Proverbs 14:23

23In all labor there is profit,
But idle chatter leads only to poverty.

I have heard this from several men in my life, "If it was easy, everyone would do it." Labor is something that we look severely down upon. We have come up with phrases like, "Work is work." In other words, work is not made to be enjoyed. Another phrase I have been told, "If you can't change the situation, change your attitude about it." Labor is no doubt laborious. That was part of the fall. Are we doing ourselves any favors by complaining about the nuances of worklife? Most certainly not. Our labor can be rewarding, but as soon as we get into idle babbling, the reward becomes naught. Let us be cautious with how we approach labor and be certain that we are walking in wisdom in all that we do. And above all, no matter what you are doing, do it to the glory of God.
