Proverbs 15:1-2

A soft answer turns away wrath,
But a harsh word stirs up anger.
2The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly,
But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.
-Proverbs 15:1-2

I have found myself at fault far too many times for throwing fuel on the fire when someone is angry. Similarly, I have had fuel thrown on me. As a child that struggled very much with anger issues, I always had to commend my mom who was formidable in always being able to give a gentle answer and turning away my unrighteous wrath. This takes a lot of self-control. We need to be settled within ourselves in order to give a soft answer when someone else is speaking harshly. Should we master this, we will be well off. Let us be wise in our speech and use knowledge rightly. Let us be careful with the things we say and how we say them. Take note of how you speak. What does your speech testify of your heart?
