Psalm 149

1Praise the Lord!
Sing to the Lord a new song,
And His praise in the assembly of saints.
2Let Israel rejoice in their Maker;
Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.
3Let them praise His name with the dance;
Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp.
4For the Lord takes pleasure in His people;
He will beautify the humble with salvation.
5Let the saints be joyful in glory;
Let them sing aloud on their beds.
6Let the high praises of God be in their mouth,
And a two-edged sword in their hand,
7To execute vengeance on the nations,
And punishments on the peoples;
8To bind their kings with chains,
And their nobles with fetters of iron;
9To execute on them the written judgment—
This honor have all His saints.
Praise the Lord!
-Psalm 149

There are a few key points I want to touch on in this Psalm. The first is that we are to praise the Lord in the assembly of the saints. It is easy to simplify our lives with the Lord as an isolated thing. But He has not bought salvation for us that we would be isolated, but that we would be unified with all the saints. Second, the Lord takes pleasure in His people. God desires you. He paid the price of salvation that He could be with you for all eternity. So not only did the Lord purchase unity for all the saints, but unity with Himself as well. Lastly, is the fact that in our unification together and with Him, we execute right judgment.

As it says that we will praise the Lord, it also says that we will have a sword in our hand. I find a very clear type and shadow of the word of God being that sword. For as you study the Armor of God, the sword is the word of God. It is this word that right judgment comes by. It is the Word that has unified us together with the Lord. As the Scriptures say,

"4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled."
-2 Cor. 10:4-6

Let us rejoice in the Lord together as we stand unified and reconciled. Blessed be His name forever and ever. Amen.
