Proverbs 12:5-6

5The thoughts of the righteous are right,
But the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.
6The words of the wicked are, “Lie in wait for blood,”
But the mouth of the upright will deliver them.
-Proverbs 12:5-6

We are instructed to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. So our thoughts are to be righteous. What is it that would cause our thoughts to become more and more wicked? Wicked counsel would cause deceit and, as such, cause one to think unrighteous thoughts. We must be careful what counsel we are taking in. What shows we watch, books we read, news we take in, or commentary we listen to, all has an impact on the way we think. Consider what it is you are taking in as your counsel and examine your thought life carefully. Live uprightly, and walk a righteous path.
