Proverbs 12:15

15The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,
But he who heeds counsel is wise.
-Proverbs 12:15

This may very well be the theme of our culture. Everyone has an outlet to express their own opinion. Everyone has become teachers of sorts. Due to this, people, out of their own pride, solidify their stances on things and insist upon being right. Unfortunately, the average person stands to be right in their own eyes alone. So is the way of the fool. How can we avoid such a matter? Humility.

We must humble ourselves and be willing to receive counsel. As we heed counsel, we can see our own blindspots. As we go through life, it can become easy to develop tunnel vision and focus only on matters at hand, never realizing how we can be neglecting important matters. The wisdom of counsel helps to make us wise. Do not be wise in your own eyes.
