Proverbs 12:13-14

13The wicked is ensnared by the transgression of his lips,
But the righteous will come through trouble.
14A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth,
And the recompense of a man’s hands will be rendered to him.
-Proverbs 12:13-14

The things we say matter. Words can get us into a lot of trouble if we are not careful. Likewise, words can help one another out of trouble if we are wise with it. As a rather extroverted person myself, I have had to spend a lot of time considering the things that I say. I remember in when I began as a youth pastor many years back having parents confronting me a lot because of the way I would say certain things. Much of the time, I found that I did not even remember saying a lot of it. I did not give words their proper value. With a lot of prayer and discipline, I started learning how to give the tongue its proper place. So the same should we all do. The purpose of our words is to build up and edify. So let us be wise with our words.
