Proverbs 13:1

A wise son heeds his father’s instruction,
But a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.
-Proverbs 13:1

We save ourselves a lot of heartache when we can learn from other's instruction. Sons have had many times of grief failing to heed the voice of their fathers. Likewise daughters with their mothers. Pride prevents from growth. Our ability to receive correction goes a long way, both with those who offer the correction and for us in our own lives. Instead of rising up to your defense when rebuked, heed the rebuke, or otherwise let them be wrong in their own. If you are wrongfully rebuked and you jump back at who is rebuking you, you are in the wrong. Let us learn to receive correction well.
