Proverbs 12:12

12The wicked covet the catch of evil men,
But the root of the righteous yields fruit.
-Proverbs 12:12

Covetousness is a sin that needs to be recognized amidst the body of Christ. The wicked are forever unsatisfied with what they have. They see what others have and feel the need to get it themselves. They are constantly looking for the next upgrade, improvement, or cool thing they can possess. They look to the left and to the right in hopes of finding what they might be able to get. But the righteous is not so. Diligent is the righteous man. His crop brings forth fruit in its season and the righteous man is content in it.

Gratitude and contentment are lost in covetousness. In fact, Paul points out the covetousness is idolatry, and that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Be rooted in gratefulness. Grow in contentment. Appreciate what you have and praise the Lord for it lest a root of bitterness creep up and rob you of your joy.
