Proverbs 6:16-19 - A Lying Tongue
16These six things the Lord hates,
Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:
17A proud look,
A lying tongue,
Hands that shed innocent blood,
18A heart that devises wicked plans,
Feet that are swift in running to evil,
19A false witness who speaks lies,
And one who sows discord among brethren.

The second thing that the Proverbs highlights that the Lord hates and finds as an abomination to Him is a lying tongue. Lying is a slippery slope for many as we like to allow the small white lies out. The unfortunate realization that we come to is that the white lies are training us for the big ones. We desensitize ourself from lying and practice deceit in the small things. Before long, that becomes our language. Terrifyingly, that is also the language of the enemy who has essentially trademarked deception. Take no part in such practices. Learn to speak truth. In your speaking of truth, learn to speak it in love.
