Proverbs 15:26

26The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord,
But the words of the pure are pleasant.
-Proverbs 15:26

There is an important reality with the Lord that we must understand. He cares about what we think about and what we invest ourselves into. He cares about where our thoughts and intents are in our life. Jesus spoke it plainly when He said, "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" (Matt. 6:21). And similarly, "For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks" (Luke 6:45). So if you are ever meditating on wicked things, what becomes of the content of your words? If your mind is set upon things above and not on things of the earth, your words will be fruitful and pure and pleasant. Notice that the focus is not simply upon changing one's words. It is having oneself changed, and that change happens only by the grace of God.
