Proverbs 19:17

17He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord,
And He will pay back what he has given.
-Proverbs 19:17

There has been a lot of abuse of various money Scriptures in recent years. Things like, "You reap what you sow," have been wildly taken out of context and used to push people into giving. This does not mean that we do not give, however. We must develop a right view of how we use our money. The problem with most of these teachings is that they promise a reward of wealth here in this life. You may experience something to that effect, but there is no guarantee of that. What we do have often promised is eternal reward. Our generosity is not to be made a public thing. It is a private affair between us and the Lord. Be generous and have pity on the poor. As you care for the least of these, so do you care for the Lord. The Lord will keep such works.
