Proverbs 22:16
16He who oppresses the poor to increase his riches,
And he who gives to the rich, will surely come to poverty.

We must take into account the reality that the Lord is seeing all that we do and has a standard. There is judgment for those who use their wealth and power to oppress those beneath them. Like the Lord, those who are in power should seek to use that for building up and exalting. The greatest of all is the servant to all. The one who uses their wealth to gain favor with those who are in power rather than caring for those who are in need meets this same fate. Remember that we are to honor the Lord in our possessions. How would the Lord have us interact with the world around us in our money and our power? Pray fervently about how you should navigate this and seek for wisdom in the Word of God. As we remain humble to Him, He will give us what we need to carry it out.
