Psalm 26

    1      Vindicate me, O LORD,
    For I have walked in my integrity.
    I have also trusted in the LORD;
    I shall not slip.
    2      Examine me, O LORD, and prove me;
    Try my mind and my heart.
    3      For Your lovingkindness is before my eyes,
    And I have walked in Your truth.
    4      I have not sat with idolatrous mortals,
    Nor will I go in with hypocrites.
    5      I have hated the assembly of evildoers,
    And will not sit with the wicked.

    6      I will wash my hands in innocence;
    So I will go about Your altar, O LORD,
    7      That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving,
    And tell of all Your wondrous works.
    8      LORD, I have loved the habitation of Your house,
    And the place where Your glory dwells.

    9      Do not gather my soul with sinners,
    Nor my life with bloodthirsty men,
    10      In whose hands is a sinister scheme,
    And whose right hand is full of bribes.

    11      But as for me, I will walk in my integrity;
    Redeem me and be merciful to me.
    12      My foot stands in an even place;
    In the congregations I will bless the LORD.
-Psalm 26

The call that the Lord has placed on our lives is to walk in obedience. I find it somewhat disturbing just how easy it can be to forget to walk in obedience with what I have learned in the Word. It almost can seem like all the Good Lord wants for me to do is sit down and read my bible. However, the desire of the Lord is not simply that you study the Word, but that you walk it out.

In this Psalm it is telling that David does not just have his eyes set upon the Lord and His works, but is also walking in a way of integrity. He will stand in purity and not be tripped by the wickedness that surrounds him. It takes me back to a teaching I heard of when Jesus was being tempted by the devil. Most know that Jesus recited Scripture to combat the enemy's schemes. Yet it wasn't simply that Jesus recited Scripture, but that He was walking in obedience to what they said that had warded off the enemy.

Uphold the Word of God in your daily living, not just your daily reading. You can be the most well studied person in the Word, but if you have not obedience it is in vain. Stand firm in God's instruction.
