Proverbs 29:23
23A man’s pride will bring him low,
But the humble in spirit will retain honor.

We see a very common theme throughout the word of God of the dangers surrounding pride. There is a reality in a prideful man being easier to hurt than a humble one. If something comes against or battles the prideful man's pride, they feel the need to war against it. If the other thing overcomes them, they are brought low. What of the man who already sees himself lowly? What can bring him down? Indeed he can only be lifted up. The Lord resists the proud but He gives grace to the humble. Which man would you prefer to be? I would seek to receive the grace of God. Lay yourself low before Him and deny yourself.
