Proverbs 31:8-9

8      Open your mouth for the speechless,
In the cause of all who are appointed to die.
9      Open your mouth, judge righteously,
And plead the cause of the poor and needy.
-Proverbs 31:8-9

I have found myself at times caught up in remembering when I should have spoken up but failed to. I am sure many of us can remember such times. If you hold wisdom and you judge righteously, you ought to open your mouth and speak for the cause of those who cannot speak for themselves. We as believers should be those who are well equipped in this arena, understanding the reality between wickedness and righteousness. We understand mercy, grace and kindness, but also wrath. We should be those who are available to speak the truth in love when all others go silent. Even against the grain, when all swear against righteousness, we should still stand righteously. Let us be those who go before and plead the cause of those in need just as the Lord Jesus Christ has done for all of us.
