Proverbs 30:18-19

18      There are three things which are too wonderful for me,
Yes, four which I do not understand:
19      The way of an eagle in the air,
The way of a serpent on a rock,
The way of a ship in the midst of the sea,
And the way of a man with a virgin.
-Proverbs 30:18-19

There are several potential interpretations of this verse that is standing out to the author. The most convincing one to me is that of the ease of mastery. Eagles quickly become experts of soaring in the air. Serpents navigate rocks expertly. Ships naturally stand amidst the sea. It is in the design of each of these to do as they do. So the same with a man with a woman. Sex is a natural thing instituted by God. The fact that such things are simply built into creation is what leaves the writer in awe. Indeed, as we contemplate this reality, it should also leave us in awe at the fact that God designed things for a purpose. Consider the ship. It was made to sail the sea. To utilize it for another purpose would be counter intuitive to its design. So the same, the Lord has intended for His creation to engage in a certain way by certain rules and laws that He has instituted.
