Psalm 31:1-5

    1      In You, O LORD, I put my trust; Let me never be ashamed;
    Deliver me in Your righteousness.
    2      Bow down Your ear to me,
    Deliver me speedily;
    Be my rock of refuge,
    A fortress of defense to save me.

    3      For You are my rock and my fortress;
    Therefore, for Your name’s sake,
    Lead me and guide me.
    4      Pull me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me,
    For You are my strength.
    5      Into Your hand I commit my spirit;
    You have redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.
-Psalm 31:1-5

I find myself so humbled by this passage. As I put my trust in the Lord I am not ashamed. I am delivered. However, what humbles me is the care that the Lord has that He would bow down His ear to us. Not only that, but He also acts as a rock of refuge for us in and through our lives.

The thing that really captures my heart in this regard is that the Lord desires to be our refuge. He desires for us to take refuge in Him and honors those who take refuge in Him. Our lives being committed to the Lord in such ways is honoring to God. Let us not step out in pride that we think we first must protect ourselves. Instead let us find shelter in His wings. Be diligent to enter that rest. Submit yourselves to the Lord, both in your strength and your weakness.
