Psalm 107:23-32

23Those who go down to the sea in ships,
Who do business on great waters,
24They see the works of the Lord,
And His wonders in the deep.
25For He commands and raises the stormy wind,
Which lifts up the waves of the sea.
26They mount up to the heavens,
They go down again to the depths;
Their soul melts because of trouble.
27They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man,
And are at their wits’ end.
28Then they cry out to the Lord in their trouble,
And He brings them out of their distresses.
29He calms the storm,
So that its waves are still.
30Then they are glad because they are quiet;
So He guides them to their desired haven.
31Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness,
And for His wonderful works to the children of men!
32Let them exalt Him also in the assembly of the people,
And praise Him in the company of the elders.
-Psalm 107:23-32

As I am going through this Psalm with you all, I keep finding myself amazed at the typology of Jesus that is all over this. It makes sense as this Psalm is very concerned with salvation and the praise of God in light of the salvation He brings. However, we see very specific characteristics that defines Jesus' ministry. Here we have the calming of the storm. This section actually provides even a little more content on what it may have been like for the disciples in that situation of being in the midst of the storm. They cried out to the Lord, He calmed the storm, and they turned to rejoice and praise.

Through these devotions in Psalm 107, I hope you can see the common thread. Our response to the move of God should be that of praise. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wornderful works to the children of men.
