Psalm 126

1When the Lord brought back the captivity of Zion,
We were like those who dream.
2Then our mouth was filled with laughter,
And our tongue with singing.
Then they said among the nations,
“The Lord has done great things for them.”
3The Lord has done great things for us,
And we are glad.
4Bring back our captivity, O Lord,
As the streams in the South.
5Those who sow in tears
Shall reap in joy.
6He who continually goes forth weeping,
Bearing seed for sowing,
Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing,
Bringing his sheaves with him.
-Psalm 126

For any who believe that the goal of following Jesus is just to be rid of fun and happiness need to see this passage. In the Lord, there is laughter and joy and celebration of all kinds. Now this joy and excitement is not just for the basis of having fun but for a legitimate reason. It is because of the salvation we have from the Lord. We have reason to celebrate. Rather than carousing and debauchery, we have cause to reap joy. No longer are we resigned to sow in tears and weep continually. Our end is as those who rejoice continuously. Praise the Lord for the salvation that He brings! In the Lord, we have fullness of joy. Amen!
