Psalm 144:1-2

1Blessed be the Lord my Rock, Who trains my hands for war,
And my fingers for battle—
2My lovingkindness and my fortress,
My high tower and my deliverer,
My shield and the One in whom I take refuge,
Who subdues my people under me.
-Psalm 144:1-2

We live in a constant spiritual battle. Many of us really get beat up as we are going through warfare. I find this to be an important passage for us to hold to. First off, He trains and equips us to battle as He would have us battle. Equipped with the armor of God and with the Spirit of truth guiding us into all truth, we can battle properly. I think of 2 Corinthians 10:4-6 which says,

"4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled."

He is our defense. He is that strong rock that protects us from below. He is the fortress that guards us from our sides. He is our high tower where we can see the attacks coming from beyond. He is the deliverer who pulls us from the grasp of our enemy. He is our shield as we deal closely with the enemies attacks. In Him we take refuge. In Him we learn to wage spiritual warfare properly. Acquaint yourself closely with the Word and with prayer. Draw near to the Lord your Rock.
