Proverbs 2:6-9

6For the Lord gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;
7He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;
8He guards the paths of justice,
And preserves the way of His saints.
9Then you will understand righteousness and justice,
Equity and every good path.
-Proverbs 2:6-9

If you desire to fill up a glass of water, you need to go to the source to get it. For us, it is much more convenient, having a suitable source in our own homes. No matter how hard you try, you cannot look at a glass and will it to have water in it.  It must be filled by an external source. Similarly, you cannot be filled up with wisdom by willing yourself to be wise. We must go to the source. That source, is the Lord.

The wisdom He gives is sound wisdom, filled with knowledge and understanding. With His wisdom, He shields us, guards justice, and preserves the saints. When we go to source, we understand righteousness and justice. While we may not always understand why a matter is righteous or not, we will understand the importance that it is. As such, we are more inclined to walk in that way. We will know equity and every good path. Go to the source that never runs dry. Hasten yourself to the Lord.
