Proverbs 2:16-22
16To deliver you from the immoral woman,
From the seductress who flatters with her words,
17Who forsakes the companion of her youth,
And forgets the covenant of her God.
18For her house leads down to death,
And her paths to the dead;
19None who go to her return,
Nor do they regain the paths of life—
20So you may walk in the way of goodness,
And keep to the paths of righteousness.
21For the upright will dwell in the land,
And the blameless will remain in it;
22But the wicked will be cut off from the earth,
And the unfaithful will be uprooted from it.
-Proverbs 2:16-22
When you see Scripture talking about an immoral woman or seductress, it is not just talking about sexual immorality. It has even more to do with deception. If you read one from verse 16 to 17, this becomes apparent. As you continue on more and more, you see the threat of deception. As Jesus is teaching in Mathew 24-25, He is explaining the signs of the end of the times. Four times more than anything else, He warns against deception. We keep ourselves from deception by being rooted and grounded in the word of God. We are delivered from this as a result of verses 10-11:
10When wisdom enters your heart,
And knowledge is pleasant to your soul,
11Discretion will preserve you;
Understanding will keep you,
-Proverbs 2:10-11
Delight yourself in the word of God and cherish it within you. Keep it that you may be kept.
