Proverbs 3:19-20

19The Lord by wisdom founded the earth;
By understanding He established the heavens;
20By His knowledge the depths were broken up,
And clouds drop down the dew.
-Proverbs 3:19-20

The book of Proverbs is a vast ocean. For every bit that you gather, there is an incredible depth beneath it. It can be so easy to get caught up in amazement as you read through it. One of the beautiful things we see throughout this book is types and shadows prefiguring Christ. As it says in 1 Cor. 1:30,

"30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption"
-1 Cor. 1:30

A lot of what we see in the personification of wisdom is fulfilled in Christ Jesus. Take for example verse 18 of chapter 3 that we looked at yesterday,

She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her,
And happy are all who retain her.
-Proverbs 3:18

Jesus is that tree of life to us. As we partake of His sacrifice we are given everlasting life. Likewise in verse 19 above, the Lord by wisdom founded the earth. Colossians 1 gives a greater understanding to this,

16 For by Him (Christ) all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
-Colossians 1:16-17

I pray that we have eyes to see these nuggets of gold as we go through the Proverbs. There are great mysteries to be found in this incredible ocean of wisdom. Let us go and find them.
