Proverbs 4:20-27

20My son, give attention to my words;
Incline your ear to my sayings.
21Do not let them depart from your eyes;
Keep them in the midst of your heart;
22For they are life to those who find them,
And health to all their flesh.
23Keep your heart with all diligence,
For out of it spring the issues of life.
24Put away from you a deceitful mouth,
And put perverse lips far from you.
25Let your eyes look straight ahead,
And your eyelids look right before you.
26Ponder the path of your feet,
And let all your ways be established.
27Do not turn to the right or the left;
Remove your foot from evil.
-Proverbs 4:20-27

This passage challenges me. How diligent are you in keeping the word before you? How diligent are you in keeping righteousness in your path? Do not let the word of God depart from your eyes. Hold them close to you. Be consistent and diligent in putting away wickedness and putting on righteousness. Have the attitude which Paul has in Philippians 3:12-15,

"12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you."
-Phil. 3:12-15

Press forward to the prize. Keep your eyes straight ahead and focus on the righteous calling of the Lord. Stray not into dark paths where you cannot see properly. Tread forward in righteousness.
