Proverbs 7:1-5

My son, keep my words, And treasure my commands within you.
2Keep my commands and live,
And my law as the apple of your eye.
3Bind them on your fingers;
Write them on the tablet of your heart.
4Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,”
And call understanding your nearest kin,
5That they may keep you from the immoral woman,
From the seductress who flatters with her words.
-Proverbs 7:1-5

Do you treasure the words of wisdom? I've heard from many that wisdom is just a killer of fun. I argue that it is a preserver of life. Wisdom is the way that we are designed to live. Foolishness is the perversion of the way we should live and exist. We must get near to wisdom, growing in understanding of the Lord. As you grow in wisdom, you need to remember that it keeps you. It serves as a barrier between you and that which your flesh would crave. In wisdom is discernment, even in dire circumstances. Beautifully, it is the discernment that teaches us to stay away from the immoral woman.

As we have discussed before in these devotions, the immoral woman, along with being the seductress that leads into sexual immorality, it typifies that which deceives. Wisdom says to keep your distance from her. Do not fall for the flattery of words that makes you think she has what you want or need. Let us keep this in mind,

as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue
-2 Peter 1:3

We are fully supplied in the Lord as we grow in knowing Him. The seductress has nothing she can offer you.
