Proverbs 9:13-18

13A foolish woman is clamorous;
She is simple, and knows nothing.
14For she sits at the door of her house,
On a seat by the highest places of the city,
15To call to those who pass by,
Who go straight on their way:
16“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here”;
And as for him who lacks understanding, she says to him,
17“Stolen water is sweet,
And bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”
18But he does not know that the dead are there,
That her guests are in the depths of hell.
-Proverbs 9:13-18

There is a very close tie between understanding and wisdom. Many will say wisdom is simply the application of knowledge and neglect the importance of growing in knowledge to apply. This keeps many in the way of the simple. Know where the foolish woman's paths lead. The enticing of foolishness is often very convincing to the simple. But to the wise, they pass by and go straight on their way. Her guests are in the depths of hell. This is not something we want to play around with.

So apply yourself to gaining wisdom and understanding. Have the knowledge that you may yet apply and apply it steadfastly. Gain the wisdom of the Lord that you may pass by the foolish woman when she calls out to you.
