Proverbs 11:7-8

7When a wicked man dies, his expectation will perish,
And the hope of the unjust perishes.
8The righteous is delivered from trouble,
And it comes to the wicked instead.
-Proverbs 11:7-8

For what does a wicked man live? He lives for the things of this world. If he dies, the hope for which he lived dies with him. Think from an eternal perspective. If we are storing up hopes and treasures here on earth, we must understand that those will one day perish. The righteous on the other hand is storing up treasures for that day. We are delivered from trouble. Let us respond to the Lord in praise for the work He has accomplished in us, and let us stay ourselves from wickedness. Live for those things above, not those things on earth.
