Proverbs 11:10-11

10When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices;
And when the wicked perish, there is jubilation.
11By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted,
But it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
-Proverbs 11:10-11

There is a degree of this that we fail to recognize in the scope of our modern day world. However, in the day and age that this was written, it was well understood that there was blessing for the nation walking in righteousness and cursing for the nation walking in wickedness. When the righteous would do well, the city would rejoice, for it would be blessed. Similarly, when the wicked would be brought down there would be jubilee for no longer would the city suffer the consequences of them.

We share to this in a different regard, but it still remains the case. Wicked individuals cause strife for society, but the righteous uplift them. Being a follower of Jesus does not simply mean that we stay behind closed doors and read our bibles. That is a part of it, but we demonstrate our faith by our actions. We can have an impact on the culture around us, be that in our families, work, city, state, or even nation. Hold fast to righteousness and walk it out as you go through your daily doings. You can be that very blessing to the environment you are in.
