Proverbs 13:23

23Much food is in the fallow ground of the poor,
And for lack of justice there is waste.
-Proverbs 13:23

There is a reality to poverty being very difficult for reasons outside of your own reach. A poor man may work the field and sufficiently bring in a fruitful crop. However, injustice creeps in and what that man has is taken from him. We see this still today, though it looks different than it did as this was written. The moral here I find is two-fold: care for the poor and live justly. Jesus made no short effort to demonstrate the importance of caring for the poor. Likewise, the message of His return is one that announces justice. Walk in these things. Just as it says in Ephesians 5,

Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
-Eph. 5:1-2
