Proverbs 14:22
22Do they not go astray who devise evil?
But mercy and truth belong to those who devise good.
-Proverbs 14:22
As you are planning out your time, what does that look like? Do you plan to indulge, or move as closely as you can to evil without actually touching it? Do you play wicked scenarios in your mind? Do you look forward to gossiping and sharing with friends the latest rumors you've been told? Or, do you contemplate the ways that you can come alongside others and spend time invested in the Lord? The ones who spend their time devising evil, be that in scheming against another or for their own life, will find themselves astray. It is like a man who decided to go on a walk in the woods on a cloudy night. There is no light to show the way, and so the way becomes obscured.
The ones who devise good are not so. They have the tools to keep them moving in the right direction, having both mercy and truth. Let us be those who devise good. As you are thinking through your day, how can you come alongside another? How can you pursue the Lord even better today?
