Proverbs 14:26-27
26In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence,
And His children will have a place of refuge.
27The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life,
To turn one away from the snares of death.
-Proverbs 14:26-27
The Proverbs spend a lot of time talking about the fear of the Lord and the importance of it. It is also important to understand the benefits of having the fear of the Lord. First, those who fear the Lord have strong confidence. It is hard to fear without faith, and having faith in the Lord means that there is trust there. The Lord is our refuge.
In fearing the Lord, we have a fountain of life. This is very important for us to understand. Such a fear keeps us from walking in wickedness which ultimately leads to death. Instead of running to all those things, we run to the Lord and are kept from the consequences of wickedness. We seek to maintain righteousness by the fear of Him. So let us walk in such a manner. I pray that we grow in knowledge and understanding concerning the things of the Lord.
