Proverbs 14:34

34Righteousness exalts a nation,
But sin is a reproach to any people.
-Proverbs 14:34

As we look at the world around us today, even just within our own nation, we see a people that delights in sin. It doesn't take very long to see that righteousness is not a priority of the nations. When I read verses like this, I consider how the Lord blessed the nations when they walked in righteousness. I consider His mercy on those nations that repented of their sin. I dwell on stories like that of Nineveh and I pray that we would be a nation that delights in righteousness. Though before I would expect our nation to repent and delight in righteousness, I think of the Church and wonder if we truly delight in righteousness. I see desires of compromise and believers trying to get as close to sin as they can without actually sinning. I find myself grieved as there seems to be such a lack of hunger for righteousness. Examine yourself prayerfully. Do you diligently seek to walk in righteousness or draw near to sin? Let us be those who strive to walk righteously before the Lord our God.
