Proverbs 15:23

23A man has joy by the answer of his mouth,
And a word spoken in due season, how good it is!
-Proverbs 15:23

A pattern has shown itself within mankind. We are much quicker to open our mouths to give criticism than we are to give encouragement. When it comes to building someone up, we may think it but rarely do we speak it. I still believe that we fail to realize how impactful our words can be on people. When it comes to criticisms and jokes, we may think that we intend well, but it can hit on things that critically tear down. Though a word given in due season can build them up and cause them to run the race that is set before them with zeal and fervor. Does this mean that we entirely avoid criticism? Definitely not. However, there needs to be a balance. If your words exclusively tear down, the value of what you say is diminished. Let us be those that also build up.
