Proverbs 15:28

28The heart of the righteous studies how to answer,
But the mouth of the wicked pours forth evil.
-Proverbs 15:28

I remember many times where after having an argument or intellectual debate I would find myself continuing to have that argument by myself. I'd think of all the clever ways I could have retorted or gotten back at them. As I grew in the Lord, my focus shifted drastically. For me, it was no longer about just winning a debate. It was about learning how to give a suitable answer. Instead of returning wrath for wrath or quip for quip, we should seek to give an answer. Part of that requires us to study to know how to answer. In your Bible study times, how do you strive to make sure that you remember what it is you are reading? How do you practice articulating the word of God that you would be ready when the time came? Let us be those who are prepared to always give an answer for the hope that is in us.
