Proverbs 16:12-15
12It is an abomination for kings to commit wickedness,
For a throne is established by righteousness.
13Righteous lips are the delight of kings,
And they love him who speaks what is right.
14As messengers of death is the king’s wrath,
But a wise man will appease it.
15In the light of the king’s face is life,
And his favor is like a cloud of the latter rain.
-Proverbs 16:12-15
As we have previously talked about kings and authority, this is important to bear in mind as well. Utilizing high positions for wickedness is an abomination before the Lord. However, when those positions are used for righteousness, the Lord blesses it and it is established.
As I read through this section and consider kingship, I consider the Lord as the King of kings. Do we see how perfectly the Lord demonstrates this? He does not use His throne to assert wickedness, nor does He abuse His throne. Instead, in His majesty and by His grace, He uses His power to uplift His people. Praise the Lord that He gifts life and rules with righteousness!
