Proverbs 16:20
20He who heeds the word wisely will find good,
And whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he.
-Proverbs 16:20
James makes it abundantly clear that we are not just to be hearers of the word, but doers. Many of us may be invested deeply in Bible study and listening to teachings and such, but all of the study that we may invest ourselves in is worthless if we do not heed the word. Heed the word with wisdom and you will find goodness. The latter half of this verse demonstrates to us the core of heeding the word. It requires our trust in the Lord. If we do not trust the Lord, why would we heed His word? But if we do trust in Him, we would be foolish not too. The man who heeds His word and trusts in the Lord will find goodness and gladness. So let us be such individuals and delight ourselves in the Lord.
