Proverbs 16:25
25There is a way that seems right to a man,
But its end is the way of death.

We live in a world that overemphasizes trusting in our own heart and doing what we think is right. However, the course of human history proves that this is unwise. The book of Judges repeatedly emphasizes how the people of Israel did what was right in their own eyes. As such, judgment awaited them time and time again. There may be a way that seems right to a man, but the way that matters is what is right before the Lord. Do not walk according to your own judgment and your own wisdom. Walk according to that which comes from above. Heed the word of the Lord and let His standard of righteousness be your guide. Do not lean upon your own understanding. Get the wisdom from above and let that be what directs your steps.
