Proverbs 16:26

26The person who labors, labors for himself,
For his hungry mouth drives him on.
-Proverbs 16:26

Labor is a necessary part of life. As it is stated in 2 Thessalonians, if a man doesn't work, he doesn't eat. Due to our base necessities, we need to labor so that we may have food on the table and be provided for. Understanding how the need for food is a physical reality that demonstrates a spiritual truth, how do we labor in the word in order to be certain that we would be fed spiritually? We are willing to go many extra miles in order to take care of ourselves physically but neglect setting aside a few minutes each day to feed ourselves spiritually. Similar to those in Haggai, we dwell in paneled houses while the temple of the Lord lies in ruins. Be certain that you are invested in laboring unto the Lord. Be fed and nourished in His Spirit. Be invested in prayer and studying the word of God. Labor that you may enter the rest that God has provided.
