Proverbs 17:6
6Children’s children are the crown of old men,
And the glory of children is their father.

Generations are seen as valuable in Scripture. While our culture likes to mock children and old men, the Word of God exalts both. Our modern day would see us lose the value of the family unit while Scripture emphasizes the importance of it. I am sure none of our parents got everything right, and I am sure none of their parents got everything right either. Parents, I know that your kids did not get everything right and there was room for discipline. None of this calls for mockery of the generations before us or after us. Let us honor our parents and train up our children in the way they should go.
