Proverbs 17:7

7Excellent speech is not becoming to a fool,
Much less lying lips to a prince.
-Proverbs 17:7

The depth of this Proverb gets a little lost in translation. The phrasing used for excellent speech has to do with speech that is lofty or overdone. What it gets to is something that is pretentious. It is a fool who speaks as though they are wise beyond measure. Though the reality stands that they have no business speaking as ones who have understanding when there is none. It is like someone who looked up an answer on Google and now acts as one who is an expert in that field of research. While the state of the fool makes the appearance of wise words unbecoming, so the same it is unfitting for those who ought to be wise to speak as those who are fools. Let us be wary of the content of our speech and walk in wisdom even in all we say.
