Proverbs 17:10-11

10Rebuke is more effective for a wise man
Than a hundred blows on a fool.

11An evil man seeks only rebellion;
 Therefore a cruel messenger will be sent against him.
-Proverbs 17:10-11

I am sure we have all experienced trying to argue with a fool. Perhaps you have also experienced being the fool that was argued with! Ignorance is a powerful tool for a fool to do away with righteous rebukes. A fool will not heed it. However, a wise man will take heed to the rebuke and repent. A hundred times over rebuking a fool produces less fruit than a single rebuke on a man who walks in wisdom. This is useful for us to know should we be offering rebuke, but it is also useful for us to weigh the condition of ourselves. How do you handle rebuke in your life? If someone offers correction, do you side step it and blow them off? Or do you consider it sincerely and take it before the Lord in prayer? Let us be wise both in our rebukes and in how we receive them.
