Proverbs 17:12

12Let a man meet a bear robbed of her cubs,
Rather than a fool in his folly.
-Proverbs 17:12

This is a very strong analogy to describe the danger of foolishness. It is a safer option to encounter a bear that was robbed of her cubs rather than a fool who is ever within his own folly. Consider the consequences of each of these. With a bear, you may indeed lose your life or suffer greatly at her wrath. However, foolishness can cost a man his soul. Jesus speaks much to this fact. Do not be one who gains the whole world and loses his soul. Do not fear him who after he has killed your body can do nothing to you. But fear Him who after He has killed your body can cast your soul into eternal hell. (Luke 12:4-5)
