Proverbs 17:18

18A man devoid of understanding shakes hands in a pledge,
And becomes surety for his friend.
-Proverbs 17:18

While in just the prior verse we discussed the friend that loves at all times and the brother that is there for adversity, this verse here shows how we should still have caution in what that looks like. Walking in love does not mean just affirming everything that they are doing. Such a practice demonstrates a void of understanding. Matters concerning money are to be taken with great consideration. It may be best to dissuade one from committing themselves to debt rather than supporting them in it. We must have wisdom in our friendships for it is out of love that we may offer correction or highlight harsh truths. In all that we say, let be the truth spoken in love.
