Proverbs 17:25

25A foolish son is a grief to his father,
And bitterness to her who bore him.
-Proverbs 17:25

I have come to the conclusion that we as modern believers have often trivialized foolishness and wisdom. We draw bridges between them and broaden the fact that they are subjective. While what is wise in one situation may not be wise in another, that does not permit us to live as we wish. The question forever remains that we should live as we ought. The Lord is the standard for such living. The fact is that both wisdom and foolishness bear consequences. Often times, these consequences affect more than us. The above Proverb even demonstrates how foolishness can grieve one's father and bring bitterness to his mother. Those who have had the greatest investment on your life frequently bear the shame of your outcome. Let us consider the consequences of what it is that we do. May the Lord grant us wisdom according to His grace.
