Proverbs 18:19

19A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city,
And contentions are like the bars of a castle.
-Proverbs 18:19

We can often manage through when people we don't really know offend us. We might be rightly bothered, upset, or otherwise off-put. However, what about when we endure offense from someone close to us, such as a dear friend or a family member? The same insults or critiques that came from those that we weren't close to hardly hit as hard as coming from one that is cherished in our sight. Surely we can understand what it is like to be in the position of the offended. If you are in such a position now, hastily make your way to forgiveness.

What I want to consider here is what we do if we are in the position of the offender. Seek to reconcile. Ask for forgiveness. Do not just say, "I am sorry." Make restitution where it may be necessary. If steps need to be taken forward, look to take those steps. Some may not take to it, but we must do what is right before the Lord.
