Proverbs 18:20

20A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth;
From the produce of his lips he shall be filled.
-Proverbs 18:20

Have you ever finished a conversation with someone and afterwards you're thinking to yourself, "I shouldn't have said that"? On the alternative, have you walked away from a conversation satisfied with how you handled your end of the discussion? In these cases, we see examples of how our conscience is offended or uplifted by our own words toward other people. We should seek for our speech to be edifying, not degrading. We should seek to uplift and not simply tear down. Sure there are exceptions to the rule, but we must be cautious to not make that the rule. Remember that every word, including every idle word, goes before the Lord and will be called into question. Let us be all the more diligent to be careful with our speech.
