Proverbs 19:5
5A false witness will not go unpunished,
And he who speaks lies will not escape.

We really begin to understand the phrase, "Honesty is the best policy," when we have the fear of the Lord in our lives. He always sees the truth. We need to be careful with how we speak. Lies are going to be called into judgment. False witness will be called into judgment. Gossip and slander will be right along side them. Our intent should be upon truth. If, after all, it is truth that sets us free, then why should we ever concern ourselves with false witness and lies? Our culture perpetuates such behaviors and we must not find ourselves linking arms in that. Stand above reproach. Dwell in truth.
