Proverbs 19:9
9A false witness will not go unpunished,
And he who speaks lies shall perish.

We must be incredibly careful with how we conduct ourselves in this these days. The avenues of media have led many of us to follow suit with many worldly practices. One of the foremost practices that we have adopted is false witness. I have seen many believers make baseless claims of other believers and non-believers alike. The catalyst for this is found in slander and gossip. Maybe you do not think you participate in making false witness, but you love gossip. I would argue that gossip often is conducive to false witness, and vice versa. Let us be cautious, for false witnessing carries with it punishment of its own, as do lies. Let your speech be seasoned with salt. Speak the truth in love and guard your brothers and sisters in Christ.
