Proverbs 19:11

11The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger,
And his glory is to overlook a transgression.
-Proverbs 19:11

On today's lesson of things that are easier said than done, we have discretion making a man slow to anger. The question that should surface in our minds is, "Why?" I have found many times over that people will lash out in anger when there is a lack of understanding. Perhaps you misread someones motives or thought a particular individual was to blame. Maybe you did not have the full context of the situation drawn out and you, in turn, lashed out in response. Rather than operating with discretion and seeking to understand with clarity and truth, the man who is quick to anger simply reacts. Remember that we are not to react as much as we are to respond. Allow yourself to be calculated. Be willing to overlook transgressions against yourself. Walk in forgiveness with haste. Jesus spells it out clearly in saying that if you do not forgive, neither will you be forgiven. Walk through life with patience. Carefully weigh each matter. May the Lord strengthen you in this endeavor.
