Proverbs 19:19

19A man of great wrath will suffer punishment;
For if you rescue him, you will have to do it again.
-Proverbs 19:19

Anger is something we have to be extremely cautious with. We have to caution both ourselves who can become angry and sin, but we also have to be cautious with those endowed with anger. A hot temper can cause one to make the same mistakes over and over again. Trying to correct a man in his anger only bleeds into more anger. It becomes increasingly problematic for that individual. This should be taken as a warning for us to not be hot tempered. Similarly, it should train us in being able to have conversations removed from fresh emotions. In marriage, this is a practice my wife and I have taken frequently. If we find ourselves in an argument or upset about something, we pull away from where the emotions are hot. Once we have cooled off, then we engage in the conversation. We talk about how to fight better and be on one another's team. But such a conversation is not suitable while emotions are hot. So the same with dealing with an angry individual. If you must bring them correction, do it removed from the heat of the anger.
